500 Days to 50 edition by Katy Walsh Health Fitness Dieting eBooks

I was freaking out about turning 50. It was looming out there in a less-than-two-year distance. Because I enjoy talking out loud to resolve problems, I decided to blog about nearing the 1/2 century marker. In August 2012, I started a blog called 500Daysto50.com. I basically wrote about the every day life of an aging, overweight spinster. I talked about nothing of consequence. It was just life happenings over a year and a half. I rattled on about peri-menopausal gushing and chin hair. I worked through grief from the deaths of a college buddy and a brother-in-law. I made a list of things to do, did them and wrote about it.
I wanted to get comfortable with aging. I needed to know how I would handle gray hair so I shaved my head. I got it down to its natural gray-colored roots. Through that hairy experience, I found out I was fine being gray. The color didn’t make me feel like an old lady. I’ve since stopped dying my hair. During my 500 day contemplation, I took up yoga. The mind-body-spirit connection is important to me. Plus, my body was getting more and more rigid. I wanted to do something to build flexibility and strength. I now regularly practice and study yoga. I also dared myself to do things that I was curious about like getting stoned. I had smoked pot a few times in my life and never been high. I decided to have that experience before I hit the fifty mile-marker. In the aftermath of a hysterical pot cookie eating party, I was depressed for a couple days. I didn’t like the reality of what goes up, must come down. My stoner phase was contained to that one day.
Before I turned fifty, I pushed myself to explore, to embrace, to experience. I consciously investigated aspects of my life. I mused about the past intertwined with the future. I took a 500 day inventory of my life. At some point during that 500 day evaluation, my life started. This book is composite of all those blog posts. It has nuggets of insight and humor for those aging out of their youthful existence.
